Become a certified nail tech in Texas
To become a certified nail technician in Texas, you must first complete a state-approved nail technician program. These programs can be found at community colleges, vocational schools, and beauty schools throughout the state. The program typically takes around 600 hours to complete and covers topics such as nail anatomy, sanitation, and safety, nail art, and customer service.
Once you have completed the program, you must pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Nail Technician Exam. This exam consists of both a written and practical portion and tests your knowledge and skills in areas such as nail shaping, polishing, and artificial nail application.
After passing the exam, you must apply for your license through the TDLR. The application process includes submitting proof of your education and passing the exam, as well as a criminal background check and payment of the licensing fee.
To maintain your license, you must complete continuing education courses every two years and renew your license with the TDLR. It is also important to stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to provide the best possible service to your clients.
